Fiddler on the Roof
Our production of Fiddler on the Roof is a collaborative project which will pull together experienced members of many local societies and also interested 'first-timers' who want to have a go at being in a musical. People from all over East Lancashire are joining forces to work to show their support for this fantastic venue and a good cause.

Fiddler On The Roof - 20th to 27th September 2008
Thank you for your interest in being involved with our exciting production to raise money for Derian House and the theatre. After months of anticipation the fun is about to begin!
Our first rehearsal and enrolment night will be on Wednesday 4th June 2008 from 7pm when you'll be able to officially ‘sign up' and collect a script and score to borrow for the next few months.
As with all society productions of this sort, it is standard practice that participants make a small financial contribution towards taking part.
Enrolment £10
This is a one off contribution towards covering you incase of accident whilst you are taking part. The insurance for the group's activities covers the rehearsal period and the performance week.
Weekly Fee £2 collected on Wednesdays
This is a contribution towards rehearsal room costs and includes refreshments at rehearsals
Scripts and Scores £10
This is a refundable deposit. However, if these are damaged or lost the hirers will charge a replacement fee of up to £60.00, for which you would be liable. If you need to make notes in these books please use a soft pencil and before you return them these notes must be rubbed out.
If you have any queries about the production, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing you on 4th June 2008, for what promises to be a great production.

Roger Dugdale, who is playing the part of Tevye, is well known by local audiences for his portrayal of the role. It was his idea to stage the production in aid of Derian House and Theatre Funds. We hope that the project will bring new audiences to the theatre and exploit the full potential of this amazing venue.
From a personal point of view, it gives me enormous satisfaction to be involved in bringing together so many talented friends that I have met over the past twentyfour years that I have been involved in local theatre starting as a little girl in the pantomimes at Calderstones, then societies in Burnley, Clitheroe, Accrington and Blackburn.
For those who are having a go for the first time, I wish you lots of happiness in your new found hobby. Being involved in theatre in your local area is a great way to make lifelong friends and keep fit and active. For many people it can also be life-forming - if not life changing! You have been warned! Have fun.

Around 70 people showed their support for an exciting new project at the Thwaites Empire Theatre at the Theatre Open Evening on Tuesday 1 April.
Fiddler on the Roof takes place in September. Produced by Howard Raw, the show will raise money for the children's hospice, Derian House and theatre funds.
Theatre Director, Michael Berry gave a guided history tour of the theatre which celebrates its centenary anniversary in 2010.
Chief Executive, Harriet Roberts was delighted with the number of people who attended. 'It was great to see so many new faces - and to catch up again with old friends from different local societies. There was certainly a real buzz about the place, it is a very exciting project. '
Rehearsals for the show start on Wednesday 4 June 2008. Watch this space for details.
