NEXT PRODUCTION REHEARSAL FOR EVERYBODY IS MONDAY 2 AUGUST - KEEP MONDAYS IN YOUR DIARY THROUGH AUGUST!!!
A Message from Harriet It was great to see things come together on Thursday 1 July & Tuesday 6 July, when we got to see for the first time how each small section fits into the full piece. I've found it a challenge trying to keep track of the project from a distance and to keep communication going across such a wide group of people and it was truly inspiring to see the dedication and good will shown by so many people in a remarkable display of teamwork and commitment.
I would particularly like to thank Tim as so many people have told me how much they have enjoyed working with him for his energy and discipline and bringing the best out in experienced and newcomers to performance. I'm sure you will join me in wishing him well on his marriage to Natasha this Saturday.
Also thanks to Bernard Kennedy and Mike Johnson for being on the ground in my absence and to Eric Nolan, Ken Wilkinson and Harold Carter for pulling together to make the schools performance such a success.
I'm going to be away now for most of July and am looking forward to coming back home in August to work alongside you.
So here is what happens next .... Important Update!
We have decided that in order to present the best work possible, we will hone and polish Act One as a complete piece about the early beginnings as a work in itself for presentation in September as part of our History Alive Festival.
Tim will be slightly re-working the ending and we will be adding the multi-media ideas, and dancers to bring it together.
The new dates for performances will be
Thursday, 9th September Friday 10th September Saturday 11th September
Tickets will be £5 and £2.50 for under 16s
Sunday 12th September On the Sunday afternoon there will be a special family heritage walk and a community picnic that Bernard is putting together that will include a treasure hunt and street theatre and we hope you will all take part.
In the evening we would like you to join us for a Thanksgiving service to celebrate everything that the venue has given to the lives of local people. These events are free.
We will be submitting a new bid to the Heritage Lottery for another wider project that encompasses the history of all the cinemas in Blackburn and hope to present the second part of the story within 12 months.
PRODUCTION REHEARSALS
Tony and Gary are producing The Trolley Song number which we'd like everybody to be part of and this is a chance for anybody who hasn't yet been involved to appear on the stage.
REHEARSALS RECOMMENCE ON MONDAY 2 AUGUST AND MONDAYS THROUGH AUGUST (NOT BANK HOLIDAY)
Costumes
Most of the costuming will be minimalist with hats, shawls, hand props etc to enable the quick changing of characters. You'll need black trousers or skirt and tshirt. Further details to follow.
