FANCY A SLICE?

The Thwaites Empire Theatre has announced that its next 'in house' musical will be the sixties pastiche, 'A Slice of Saturday Night'.

Visit our Slice of Saturday Night web site for music samples and more information as it becomes available

This production follows the success of 'Fiddler on the Roof' last year which raised over £8K in total for charity.

This is an appeal for Chorus members over the age of 18, with a playing age of between 17 and 25. There is also the opportunity to take up minor roles. Good singing and dancing ability needed. Would suit College and University students as rehearsals begin on Tuesday June 16th until the performance taking place on Thurs 30th July - Sat 1st August.

Chief Executive, Harriet Roberts, NODA nominated director and a BBC events producer, will be turning her hand to directing the Show in collaboration with local musical theatre group, 'Debut'.

She explained that the plot follows the teenage angsts of a group of typical teenagers and the rituals and traditions of Saturday Night in a local club in 1964.  'This is usually a straightfoward eight-hander with 4 girls and 4 boys but we want to supplement the cast with a strong chorus.'

The show will feature well known local performers from societies across the region including Lisa-marie Hunt as Sue, Maria Masterman as Bridget, James Dryden as Eddie, Roger Nuttall as Rick and Paul McGowan as the Nightclub owner, Eric "Rubber Legs" Devine.
