CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NOMINATIONS

The Thwaites Empire Theatre is proud to announce that the National Operatic and Dramatic Association have nominated many local players using the venue for prestigious awards.

Blackburn Musical Theatre Company have been nominated for Best Musical for their 2008 production of Annie in the North West Regional Awards which will be held in Blackpool in May.  This was a new venture for the society who had previously performed at Oswaldtwistle.  Sue Fry who played Miss Hannigan said that playing such an intimate venue was a thrilling experience.

Jenny Hodkinson of Blackburn Drama Club has been nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for her role as 'The Counsellor' in the production 'Shearer or Me' which was a world premiere and a joint venture for the society and the theatre in attempting to attract a football interested audience who might not necessarily regularly patronise plays.

NODA North West District 3 Representative, Kevin Rawcliffe has reinstated the districts local awards and announced that the Thwaites Empire Theatre Charity Players have been successful in being nominated in 7 categories for their prestigious production of Fiddler on the Roof which raised over £4K for Derian House Children's Hospice and the theatre in September 2008.
