Fruits of Married Bliss!
The Thwaites Empire Theatre benefited from the fruits of married bliss this month, when they received a brand new projector from volunteers, Ken and Olive Sharples.
The couple from Heys Lane celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at a party at Darwen Golf Club surrounded by theatre friends and performers and instead of receiving gifts they asked for donations to go to the theatre.
The funds totalled over £500 and there was more than enough to buy the much needed projection equipment which has already been put to good use in the multi-media performance of The Lady Killers.
Thanking them, Chief Executive, Harriet Roberts said, 'I'm delighted to receive this generous gift on behalf of the theatre. Ken and Olive do so much to help the venue every day in the work they do. It's meeting and working with people like this that makes this such a worthwhile charity to be involved in.'
