Celebrate Blackburn Community Festival

The Thwaites Empire Theatre has announced exciting plans to take part in the Celebrate Blackburn Community Festival which takes place across the borough in July.

There will be a family fun day on Sunday 12 July from 10am - 3pm.  Tickets for children are just £2 and adults go free.

Fun Day Workshops

There will be three showings of a participatory performance of Goldilocks and the three Bears when children can get their hands on puppets and percussion.  The workshops and performance last approximately 1 hour.  In the foyer there will be free arts activities with a chance to win tickets to the Christmas pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.

Performances will be at 10am, 12 Noon and 2pm

On Sunday 19th July there will be a showcase of local talent organised by the Blackburn India League.

Celebrate Blackburn starts at 7pm and will feature the Pat Eaket School of Dance and Drama, Blackburn Drama Club, the Thwaites Empire Theatre Silver Stars, and Arabic and Indian Folk Dance.

Chief Executive, Harriet Roberts said, 'As a community arts organisation we're really pleased to be given the opportunity to take part in the Celebrate Blackburn Festival by providing these low cost, accessible events that everybody can enjoy taking part in as well as watching!  

We plan to expand our programme of family activities with events aimed at children so if this is something local parents would like to see more of - please come along to the Family Fun Day and show us your support!'
