Urgent Appeal for Volunt-'ears'

Good listeners are required to help with the latest round of gathering memories for our centenary archive of stories from local people.

We are looking for people who can talk to local residents about their experiences of the Empire over the past 100 years.  These might be patrons of the cinema, theatre, volunteers, fundraisers, or staff.  We will train you how to use a very simple piece of recording equipment and a digital camera and you will be provided with travelling expenses and a prompt list of questions.

The oral history reminiscence extracts will be used for a new book that is being compiled to mark the centenary in 2010.  The book is called 'The Fall & Rise of the Empire Cinema' and will be published in April next year.  The stories will also be used as part of a community performance which will involve local schools and community performance groups.

If you have time to spare and think you may have the right skills, please contact the Mike Johnson, Multi-Media Manager at the theatre on 01254 685500 or email: mike@empirearchive.net
