Leaking Roof!

A theatre's leaking roof has become so bad that every time it rains costumes are being damaged and buckets have to be placed strategically to catch the drips.

Leaking Roof

Fundraising Director, Michael Berry is credited with being the business man who got the theatre back in business after being closed and lying derelict for many years.  He's determined that rain won't stop play and on the eve of the venue's 100th birthday he has organised a massive auction of donated gifts to raise the £100K needed.

Michael says ‘We need to replace both roofs on the red brick auditorium and the more modern performing arts centre used for rehearsals, administration, dressing rooms and storage.  The whole community have rallied round once again to provide us with some fabulous gifts from luxury holidays to fitted kitchens, to the more unusual like a hundred Hollands Pies, Teeth Whitening Treatments and even a Walkabout Cyberman.  They would make some fantastic Christmas presents.'

The gifts can be found online at a dedicated auction site www.empire100.co.uk .  Bidding opens on 1 November and the auction will continue until Saturday 6 March when the larger items will be showcased at a VIP Gala Dinner at Blackburn Rovers.

For a printed catalogue of the 100 available items or to make a postal bid contact Michael at the theatre on 07931 639798.  Michael is available for interviews
