Youth Theatre's 'bin' successful

Jordon Turner and Justine Bailey from Blackburn Youth Theatre have done the theatre proud in the latest round of bidding for Cash for Communities.

Blackburn Youth Theatre

The pair made a 2 minute presentation at Mill Hill Community Centre for just over £800 for new recycling bins for the performing arts centre.

The audience was made up of local people who are members of other local community organisations and using an electronic voting system gave the thumbs up to the project which will enable the theatre to reduce the amount of waste generated going to landfill.

The rehearsal studios are in the Capita Performing Centre which is a multi use centre and operates throughout the week for people of all ages.  Regular users include the Bernese School of Theatre Dance, Blackburn Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Blackburn Musical Theatre Company, Blackburn Drama Club and Blackburn Youth Theatre.

Chair of the Board of Trustees, Michael Berry said, 'It is wonderful to see the young people who use the building taking an active interest in the future of the theatre.

The cash for the bins is fantastic news but we are equally as grateful to the local community for continuing to recognise the value of the theatre and voting for us again.

Jordon from Blackburn Youth Theatre will be attending a cheque presention event at 10am at the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Blackburn on Saturday 12 December when the Golden Oldies will be performing.
