The Volunteers Book hot off the presses!

In preparation for the centenary of the theatre being celebrated this year, some of the longest serving volunteers and original founding staff received celebrity treatment by being the focus of a series of portrait sessions which produced work framed and hung on the walls of the complex for the next 100 years.

The photographer was Helen Aikman who, at that time, January 2009, was completing a BA(Hons) Photographic Media course at Blackburn College.

Helen Aikman

Helen said "I take care to capture the essence of natural photography at its very best, using a delicate approach, producing informal, unforced, honest photographs. There is a little piece of me in every photograph that I make and I work hard to show depth and quality so that it means something to my clients and also to me. Working on location using natural daylight generates fresh classical simplicity and purity in my work yet I use studio sets and creative lighting techniques when the need arises.

Based in Lancashire I have worked in the photographic industry since 1989 and my BA (Hons) degree in Photographic Media demonstrates my skills in fashion, photojournalism, advertising, portrait and fine art photography."

Helen has recently redesigned her Volunteers book and it is now hot off the presses at Blurb!
